Owning a fabric store has allowed Sarah to continue her life long interest in textiles. Her collection of fabrics spans the globe from Indian batiks to Chinese silks. Sarah loves fabrics! Besides quilting and sewing, she is an avid reader, is fascinated with science, and loves to garden and cook.
She has served her community for many years on the board of Downtown Lawrence, Inc.
Her dreams include traveling to faraway places to purchase fabric…

Kathy, Sarah's sister, has been at the store since its inception and is the glue that holds everything together. She is a skilled tailor, an extraordinary teacher and has demonstrated flair in costume creation (revealed at Sarah's Costumes). Sometimes saintly, Kathy's problem-solving skills are used by staff and customers daily.

As a visual artist Lauren adds an exciting dimension to the store. Returning to Lawrence and Sarah's after completing a degree in painting at Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, Lauren's touch can be seen throughout our retail environment. One of Sarah's favorite memories of Lauren is watching her, as a child, arrange the ribbons while in the store with her mother.

Continuing the family theme, Aly has worked part-time in both the fabric and costume store for several years. She never complains of working with her aunt and mother, which may be an indication of her intelligence. Aly has made quilts since she was 10 years old, and has sold several of her pieces through the store. As a freshman at KU, Aly is interested in writing and Spanish.

A new arrival, Possum, greets Sarah every morning. Possum arrived under cover of night and spent a good deal of time in the basement before a construction worker informed them they had a "possum" in the store. She has recently been socialized and welcomes everyone.
